Summary

Dr. Langdon has held such positions as chair and vice-chair of the Faculty Senate and served as chair and/or a member of numerous Bowie State and University of Maryland System committees. Additional University service includes advising the Alpha Kappa Mu National.

Biography

Dr. Langdon was born in South Carolina and  began her career in higher education as a community college teacher at Rappahannock Community College in 1977. From 1979 to 1985, she was appointed instructor/lecturer at Hampton University, where she also served as the first director of the Mathematics/Science Laboratory. After completing her Ph.D. at The American University in 1989, Dr. Langdon joined the Bowie State University (BSU) community as an associate professor. During her tenure at Bowie State, she has served as director of the Summer Institute in Engineering and Computer Applications Program (1989); coordinator of Computer Science, Department of Natural Sciences, Mathematics, and Computer Science (1993-94); Faculty Administrative Intern (1995); and coordinator of the Senior Year Progression and Transition Program (SYPAT), which she initiated in 1994. Among Dr. Langdon's other accomplishments are serving as a curriculum, proposal, and paper reviewer for the Maryland State Department of Education, the National Science Foundation, and the Association of Computing Machinery (ACM), respectively, and as a member of the 1996 ACM National Program Committee for SIGCSE. Dr. Langdon has made presentations at all levels of higher education, participated in numerous workshops and conferences, published in conference proceedings, and developed software programs. She has also been the Principal Investigator or Co-Principal Investigator for several grants and sub-contracts. Dr. Langdon holds membership in several professional studies.
